Improving Fire Safety in Structural Steel Frames

Sometimes, partitioning is installed along the line of a structural steel frame to provide fire compartmentation. Steel beam or column, even if protected with intumescent paint, is unable to provide the required level of thermal insulation (EI fire rating, characteristic for elements of compartment).
Encasement with fire rated boards is the only way to maintain performance requirements of a compartment, but it also must provide the required level of the loadbearing capacity to the steel element.
